Aces & Eights is filling up the void
Aces & Eights, a poker bar located in Watson Boulevard next to Big Lots, expects to open on Friday, according to Mike Canez, who co-owns the bar with Laura Hill. It\'s in the space formerly occupied by Reputations Bar & Grill and will fill up the void left when Chevy\'s stopped having poker tournaments.
Aces & Eights acquired the building in July. It\'s pretty much ready to open, with the only delay being that a state inspector has to visit before a liquor license can be issued. That was expected to happen Monday.
For poker fans that don’t like to smoke, the bar will have a separate non-smoking poker room. Tournament manager Robert French said the poker popularity has probably peaked, but he doesn\'t see it declining.
French also said the bar is aiming to lure a non-poker crowd too, and might turn more into a dance club on weekends with poker in a separate area.
This is the second poker bar to open in Warner Robins this year. T-Skulls Poker Bar-n-More opened in June in Stantom Plaza on Watson Boulevard.
